About the Summit
Set against the backdrop of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2026, the EU Hydrogen & Advanced Fuels Breakthrough Summit is a high-level regional platform convening decision-makers and market leaders to accelerate cooperation between the European Union, the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), and MENA regions.
Organised by the EU-GCC Cooperation on Green Transition Project, in close coordination with the Delegation of the European Union to the UAE, the Embassy of Germany in the UAE, and the MED-GEM Network, the summit is dedicated to advancing the development of cross-border hydrogen and sustainable fuels value chains.
With ambitious national strategies and complementary strengths, the EU, GCC and MENA regions are uniquely positioned to shape a resilient hydrogen economy. This event brings together public and private stakeholders to turn this shared potential into real-world partnerships, investments, and projects.

This high-level dialogue will bring together senior representatives from governments, leading industries, and financial institutions across Europe, the GCC, and the Mediterranean. Panelists will examine how strategic cross-regional cooperation can unlock large-scale hydrogen projects, foster energy security, and shape a globally competitive hydrogen economy. Expect insights into trade corridors, joint investment frameworks, and geopolitical alignment for a shared green future.
This session explores how regulatory harmonisation and certification mechanisms can serve as enablers for global hydrogen trade. With input from EU, GCC, and SMC authorities, we will examine frameworks for ensuring safety, sustainability, and mutual recognition—key components for building trust, accelerating exports, and creating an interoperable hydrogen economy.
